This is a great basic dvd recorder. I have had this for about 6 months and have not a single issue with it. It is being used almost every day. It give you the option to record with or with out chapters. I have recorded in all record modes but mostly use the sp. It does not have a tv tuner in it for basic cable. I have digital tv service so it does not matter. The play back quality is great and even the recordings I have done from vcr ( yes I still use a vcr) are pretty darn good.
