Advantages: connectible to VHS, DVD and analog TV Disadvantages: need cable box for HD-TV , not HDMI cables
...of a long line of Sony audio video receivers. That said, It is excellent. It is connectible to television, DVD, VHS, and 5 more speaker channels. It performance specifications are impressive. It is head and shoulders better than any other audio video receiver in it's price range. There is a disappointment in Sonytown. This device has all the plethora of RCA type cables, which makes it possible to connect to a VHS recorder/player, a DVD recorder/player ... ...my cable television. I called Sony and was advised that I will have to use a cable tuner box which I will have to rent. for HD-TV.
This receiver is equipped with 3 ports for the new breed of cable called HDMI or High definition Modular Interface but no HDMI cables were provided with the receiver. The HDMI cables cost $100 each.
At $199 this receiver is beyond all fond expectations and I would strongly recommend it. Especially for its audio merits. ...
