I had this notebook and it started to go bezerk. It wouldn't accept any typing and would only work with the mouse. I called the tech support because it was still under warranty. They told me it was a software glitch and tried to walk me through the fix. After about 1 1/2 hrs of frustration I was told to send it back. They sent a box to send it back with. I complied and within days of sending it UPS, and 2 days of calling them and asking about it, ...
...turned to frustration when I realized the notebook was as I sent it. I called thier 1800 # and was told that there was an unidentified liquid in the unit, most likely animal urine. My laptop stayed on nmy bedroom desk and I have a cat but he sure didn't "Go" on my desk. I was livid and asked why they didn't call or contact me to tell me or offer to allow me to pay for repairs. Advantages: Little size, high performance
Disadvantages: No optical drive

I need a small, portable and high performance laptop that I could carry around with me without feeling like I was toting around a small baby. Advantages: Stylish, fast, portable, light
Disadvantages: Gets dirty easily, could use a longer battery life

I've had my MacBook since December of 2006 and it's still works great. It's a lot faster than my HP PC desktop at work (which stresses me out it's so slow sometimes) and it just looks and feels cooler. I also love its ability to look up any wireless signal and connect, without having to go into any control panels or setup wizards. Graphics are great - really easy to watch DVDs, videos, etc. I also love the programs it came with like Garage Band and ...
...of dirty easily. iChat is also really cool because MacBook comes with a built-in web cam that allows you to see your friends while you're chatting... Overall, I love it and couldn't live without it! I purchased this Dell Inspiron 1521 for my daughter to go to college in Oct of 2007. As soon as I received it, the DVD drive did not work at all. I spent almost 2 hours with tech assistance trying to fix the problem. I had to send it back, and send my daughter off to college without it. When I got it back, it worked fine until April of 2008. I bought this laptop for educational and everyday use. The think vantage software works great and haven't given me any problems so far. I have been using it for an year now, and I recently found that it works great for programs involving intense computational work. After using it for a long time, 14 inch is certainly a disadvantage and I would advise to shell extra bucks for the 15 or 15.4 inch screen. I don't think this is useful for 3D rendering ...
