Disadvantages: it's a different type of computer if you are used to a PC

...the money. The .Mac program and the Apple Support are also worth the money that you have to dish out to get them. And if you're smart, you'll buy the office and sell it to your friends when you're done, because you can use the program up to 3 times. ... Read review

Not my type of Apple
Review of Apple MacBook Air Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz - 13.3" TFT by Socialism

Advantages: Very Thin, Powerful for something so thin.
Disadvantages: Very Thin, Overated, Expensive, Breakable.

At first I thought the Macbook Air was pretty cool. It's pretty powerful with it's Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz Processor and 2 GB of RAM, but it's just to thin. If you drop this think just once it'll probably shatter in half. It doesn't even have a DVD as far as I remember, and with Blue-Ray soon about to take over you won't be able to play your favorite movies or games on this thing. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's just to slim for my own personal liking. ...
...light and portable. I think that the MacBook Air is getting to much attention. It's overrated just like the Ipod. The Iphone is a different story since it's pretty cool Overall, the Macbook Air is an OK device. It's just to small and doesn't have a DVD drive. There are other possibilities. Just because it's thin doesn't make it very good for portability. It could break pretty easily if dropped . It's best to keep thing at a medium size in my own ... Read review

Apple MacBook Pro
Review of Apple MacBook Pro - Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - RAM 2 GB - HDD 160 GB - DVD±RW (±R DL) - GF 8600M GT - Gigabit Ethernet - WLAN : Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, 802.11 a/b/g/n (draft) - MacOS X 10.4 - 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1440 x 900 ( WXGA+ ) - camera by Jamie_Lee

Advantages: Superior Technology, User friendly, Fast Processor
Disadvantages: Doesn't come in a 13 inch.

...my computer does have any technological problems, Apple replaces it if they cannot reverse the problem. I have also noticed that my applications do not freeze, and I don't have to force my computer to restart or force quit. Overall, I have found that MacBook Pro's are obsolete. ... Read review

Excellent Value for your money
Review of Compaq Presario V5209US by Lejandro

Advantages: Affordable, decent specs
Disadvantages: Installed software bundle are annoying (trial versions), no built-in camera

HP laptops are popular for one thing, affordability. Don't get me wrong, they may be cheap but certainly not of low quality. I got mine a couple of years ago for $499.00 +tax. T'was the best deal there was. I got it basically to do usual stuff like web surfing, e-mail and school related projects. So definitely I knew I don't need a cutting edge machine. This notebook runs on a celeron 1.46ghz processor, 512ram, 80 gig harddisk, have CDWR/DVD combo ...
...By today standards, this is probably half the speed, size and feature that you could get for $600-$800. After using it for 2+ years, it is still going strong. I have reformatted it once when my software crashed but that's about the worst it had gotten. Right now, a couple keys have lost it's sensitivity, a common wear and tear in laptop keyboards. Battery life have also shortened from 2.5 hours to probably 45 minutes, again this naturally comes with ... Read review
