This is a very thin GPS which is good since it does not take up a lot of room. It is fine for people who need something to give them directions when in unfamiliar territory. It tells you when to turn like as in 500 feet 200 feet 50 feet. Who can possibly strain to read a street name while in traffic? I prefer to hear it tell you when to turn by feet since i can slow down knowing that my turn is coming up. If you miss the turn it automatically will ...

...want, I really love this Magellan Maestro 4200 GPS receiver. This has been one of my best purchases in the past year, the screen is nice and clear, the street names are always correct, it will redirect you if you happen to take the wrong turn some where. It also announces out loud where you should go, so you can safely drive with your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. The design in itself is even really nice, it's sleek and compact and ...

GARMIN GPSMAP 96
I was chatting with an aviation chum the other day about the pros and cons of the various GPS units out there. Due to parkinsonism I no longer fly and learned at a time when GPS for the private pilot was a mere gleam in its inventors eye! A lot of pilots are very sceptical that newbies are relying far too much on GPS systems for navigation, rather than building on the basics (wizz-wheel, maps etc) so that they encounter difficulty ... ...right as my friend, who is a learner of this new-school, told me that without the basics the use of GPS is like cooking with a microwave without knowing about flavour, i,e,, it can be done but isn't really worthwhile.

...This is the base model Garmin that has mapping capabilities so at around 120 dollars it is the cheapest way to get started in whatever your new endeavor is. The casing is blue and black so while walking through the woods it does not make you stand out to the people on the trails. The black grips on the side are perfect, when out on the water fishing, to grip onto so you do not drop this unit. In the event you do slip and drop the unit it comes with ... ...it is waterproof so there are no worries about ruining it in the water..in fact I frequently rinse it off in the nearby rivers. The only thing I would recommend is that you do not purchase the carrying case as it covers the internal antenna blocking signal to the unit. I hope this helps. ...
