I have just got this Panasonic DVD S54K and I think the player does a fairly good job in up converting the DVD with good picture quality. This dvd player plays really good and has awsome sound with the speakers that are included. My kids just love the sound that it produces because it reminds them of being inside a movie theather. This DVD/VCR was a birthday present to me from my husband. I have a huge collection of VHS tapes, as well as stacks of DVD's, so I love having the combination of both in one unit.
