This dvd player plays really good and has awsome sound with the speakers that are included. My kids just love the sound that it produces because it reminds them of being inside a movie theather. The DivX compatibility have not tried hard but all the comments I have read are very positive so I do not think there are problems. I have just got this Panasonic DVD S54K and I think the player does a fairly good job in up converting the DVD with good picture quality. Plays all discs - VCDs, CD-RWs, CDs, DVDs, MP3s, Div-X and just about anything that won't play on other DVD players. This DVD/VCR was a birthday present to me from my husband. I have a huge collection of VHS tapes, as well as stacks of DVD's, so I love having the combination of both in one unit.
