...causes a feeling of absence. "Wish You Were Here" is a song about the sensations that accompany the state of not being there. To work and to be with people whom you know aren't there anymore. The song of the machine is about the business situation, which i find myself in, which creates this absence. ...Whilst maybe not achieving the public acclaim of dark side of the moon, the album Wish You Were Here is my favourite Pink Floyd album, and possibly even my favourite album of all time! The album was first released back in the days of vinyl in 1975 following recording at the famous Abbey Road studios, but a digitally re-mastered version was made in 1992 and is produced by EMI. This album features the more familiar line-up of the later-days Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett having previously left the band following a bit of a breakdown. The song-writing by Waters and Gilmour is superb throughout the album. Many albums may have their standout tracks, but it is indeed a rare animal where all the tracks are this good. ...Remember when you were young? You shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond! ~~~Introduction~~~ How do you follow what many consider the greatest album ever made? With an even better one if you're Pink Floyd! 'Wish You Were Here' is a tribute to Syd Barrett. Syd was the original leader of Pink Floyd when they were an underground psychedelic act. Sadly all the acid and his Schizophrenia didn't mix very well at all and his stint as leader was forced to end as his mind turned to mush! At first Roger, Nick and Rick got their friend David Gilmour to join the band with Syd and basically to make up for Syd's diminishing ability to play the music. - And I should point David was also a very good friend of Syd's before Floyd too, I read somewhere that it was Gilmour who taught Syd how to play guitar, but don't quote me on that one... Advantages Good music, great debut album
Disadvantages Some weak songs but mostly good

...from lead singer Scott Weiland. Many people may think, when listening to it, that this was there first (or debut) single when in fact Set Me Free was. This song very much like some old guns and roses songs, with one exception- Scott Weiland, unlike Axl, can sing! Disappointments- I expected a few cover versions on this album, they have performed them at concerts and festivals numerous times before, here are the ones performed and disappointing not to see them on the album- Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) Sex Type Thing (Stone Temple Pilots) Mr Brownstone (Guns And Roses)- I don't think they can release this because Axl Rose of G'n'R has rights to it. I think they are saving the other two though for a Spaghetti Incident style album full of cover versions, a 3 Doors Down and Money by Pink Floyd covers will probably also be included... Read review
