We purchased this Whirlpool Cabrio Super-Capacity dryer to replace a piece of crap Kenmore dryer. We knew we didn't want to own another Kenmore or Fridgidaire product again (they were the actual manufacturer of the dryer).

But we only needed to replace the dryer and the dryer needed to have specific qualities: to have a large enough capacity to dry all the clothes that our washer could wash (which was A LOT) and have a door that opened to the right (meaning the hinge was on the right side). This limited our choices quite a bit and among all of them the Cabrio was the best fit for us. It was also highly recommended by the salesperson. We checked out some reviews online and buyers seemed to be happy.

Even though Hubby was a little leery of the whole digital display and buttons, it seems as though we didn't have much of a choice. We bought the dryer in October 2006. It has been a great machine and has given us no problems.

Features I love:
- Quiet. It's not completely silent, but I can dry a load and manage to go to sleep. Our laundry closet is right next to my bedroom and I would hear it.
- Choice of timed or sensor drying. I choose the sensor drying and most of the time, it's right. It does get confused if you have bulky items mixed in with quicker drying items. Not a big deal for me, just take out the dry items and start over again.
- Easy to clean lint trap. My old dryer's lint trap would get so full of lint that didn't stick to the trap. With this one it feels like I'm actually getting all the lint out.
- Estimated dry time display - I find that it's usually incorrect, but it gives you a pretty good idea.
- Lots of space. Because the dryer is so large, it seems like it doesn't take very long to dry stuff. I can dry a couple blankets at a time in it.
- Virtually no maintenance. I haven't really done anything special to keep it maintained. Just clean the lint trap before EVERY load and dust the top to keep it clean.
- Doesn't scorch our clothes. Our old dryer would scorch our clothes if you didn't periodically vacuum the screen on the inside, which was a near impossible task since you couldn't take the screen off. This was a pretty expensive flaw, as we had to discard a lot of clothing before we figured it out.
- Wrinkle Guard - If you can't empty the dryer right away, you can turn on the Wrinkle Guard. It will tumble your clothes every 10 minutes to prevent wrinkles. This is really nice if I don't hear the dryer go off the first time.
- Speaking of the dryer signal... You can turn it off, which is nice if you want to dry a load and go to sleep and not get awaken by the signal.
- Large opening. This is a handy feature for me as it makes it easier to get items in and out.
- When we got ours, we mailed in for a free drying rack. This is nice to dry items flat, like a delicate sweater, or to dry things you don't want tumbling around, like sneakers.

I have to disagree with the other review of this item. We've been so happy with this dryer and other Whirlpool products. When our crap Kenmore washer eventually died, we replaced it with a Whirlpool Duet. However, we did learn our lesson and purchased the extended warranty (we got it at Best Buy) and had them install it. It's a little piece of mind, considering that nothing seems to be made to last these days. So far, it's performed so much better than our previous machine and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
