We tried using it with AIM but we really prefer skype. There is a little shade on the camera that you can put down and when you do nobody can see you but you can set it to show a picture instead. Advantages: Basic webcam
Disadvantages: Not as good as the VX6000

At first I bought this camera, the VX3000 and then brought it back and decided to go with the VX6000 instead. If your torn between the two i would definitly go with the VX6000. The picture is clearer and has a couple more options like 3x zoom, pan and tilt options.
