Advantages: use for more than one computer, fast, easy to install Disadvantages: none
...This is a good high speed usbadapter to use. I have used it for the past few weeks and I really like it. I have had no problems with it and it is very easy to install. I paid 50.00 for mine and I believe that it was a wise choice on my part.
I can run my computer faster and its security is pretty good too. The computer seems to go 2 to 3 times as fast as it had been going. You can plug in up to five ports or so for access. I have a total of three computers running on it and it works great for all.
I have not even had any of them freezing up or anything. I really like how it works. You can use it for your wireless.
This adapter is small but works as good as most. It does not have any anteena on it either....

Can't tell the difference between a serial port and a parallel port? USB solves this confusion by using just one standard plug-in for all peripherals. And you can link one USB product to another in an ongoing chain. You don't even need to shut down and restart your PC to attach or remove a peripheral. Just plug it in! The PC automatically detects the peripheral and starts up the installation software. Just install this internal PCI card into your desktop PC and, instantly, you can begin connecting USB peripherals. Connect USB-based printers, modems, speakers, scanners, and hundreds of other devices. Easy USB installation makes adding new hardware a breeze. No complex installation, confusing plug-ins, or IRQs. And you can chain up to 127 USB products to your PC.

Mighty Enough?

...and right mouse button, as well as the 'nipple' having the ability to be pressed and side buttons which when squeezed together are another button. These buttons can be configured to do pretty much anything you like via the easily configurable preferences.
Critically however, the side button is sometimes a bit hard to press and sometimes the left and right buttons pose a problem, because of the mechanics, if you rest your finger on the right hand button and click the left it will fail to register the click.
Optical
The mouse has a very well shielded optical sensor allowing it to rnu on any surface very precisely, as opposed to a ball mouse. The feel of it on a surface sometimes grinds a bit when the bottom gets a bit too much dirt on it.
USB
It is connected via a wire to a USBport, the cable is very short, about 1 1/2 feet maximum, either plug...

Advantages Can dispose of 3 monitors, keyboards and mice. Disadvantages Not future proof. USB only machines may not work.
...A simple yet functional device that allows up to 4 PS/2 based machines to be controlled from a single Keyboard, Video and Mouse.
Mine came free courtesy of a very speculative request on FreeCycle and has given trouble free performance since then, so excellent value for money as far as I am concerned.
Only potential downside for the future is that the box only has PS/2 connectors and most new PC machines no longer have PS/2, only USB. I did try a couple of USB to PS/2adapters but they did not seem to work with this device.
Only bugbear for me in terms of general use is that the Select button only goes from one port to the next in one direction, therefore to switch from port 3 to port2 you have to click three times and go all the way around the loop. The ability to jump directly from the currently selected port to another specifically...
