Ever kept up your Wife/Girlfriend/Parents because your up late playing Video Games with the Surround Sound on, well the Tritton AX360 Headset is here to solve all your problems.
Long back before I sold my Xbox 360 I constantly found myself having to turn down my Surround Sound so's not to wake the rest of the household. When speaking to a friend about this he recommended I get a pair of surround sound headphones, more specifically he recommended the Turtle Beach headset's. However upon inspection I came to realise that their current product line weren't true 5.1 surround sound, and after further searching I came across the Tritton's. Oh what a joy they've been.
A few days after ordering they arrived on my doorstep. After unpacking the headset I was greeted by a mass of cables (more than enough to connect the headset to whatever appliance you wish to), however thanks to the manual, setting up was a breeze, simply one optical cable from the Xbox 360 to the headset's amp and we were ready to go. With a little searching on the internet I found some recommended settings for the Front/Centre/Rear Volume's, while inputting these settings into the headset by scrolling the volume dials on the lead, I loaded up Call of Duty 4 for a test run.
While playing Call of Duty 4, even thought I was previously playing on a 5.1 Surround Sound set-up, I was immediately greeted by before unheard sounds. I could hear fly's buzzing in the bins, people walking around, on the other end of the map, and my own footsteps more than ever. While much of this was highly un-realistic, it certainly improved by game, making this headset a must for anyone who takes video gaming even remotely competitive. Now I could hear the enemy heading my way before they even knew I was there, giving me time to plan an attack.
One problem I, and many others had found with the Tritton AX360 headset was hearing each other. The In-game sounds were so over-powering and prominent that it made communication near impossible. I did find one way to improve this was to lower the In-game volume, and up the centre volume on the headset, this did however effect the surround sound experience by making objects, or opponents to my side louder than those in front or behind.
Another problem I found was there was no way to mute my microphone, other than simply un-plugging it. There was however a solution in the form of a Datel Headset Adapter.. This was basically just the grey block found on the normal headsets, allowing you to mute your microphone easily.
OK, So I've gone on too long now, to wrap it up. The Tritton AX360 is brilliant if you find yourself waking a loved one when your playing late at night, however, hearing your team mates, or opponents is very difficult and the headset may seem a tad unrealistic when your listening to flys converse over the bin.
