Manufacturer's product description
There's a reason why Toshiba is the leader in DVD. It has led an industry consortium that defined the standards for DVD excellence, and that leadership continues in the future-forward models in this year's Toshiba DVD lineup. With innovations that provide flawless picture performance, unequalled color detail, and studio-quality sound, it is no wonder Toshiba is your source for the very best in DVD. Because the digital filter enables eight times oversampling of the component video signal, Super ColorStream Pro players deliver the highest quality video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped analog or digital TV. When this connection is utilized, typical NTSC artifacts - like video noise, dot crawl, and flicker - are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity. Digital Cinema Progressive (3: 2 pulldown) delivers the smoothest, most film-like images to any progressive scan television, such as an HD-compatible one, and ensures maximum resolution. Grayscale in video is measured and tracked on a scale of 0 (black) to 100 (white) IRE units. In NTSC video is traditionally assigned the 7.5 IRE value as being the black cutoff in a picture. The EXPANDED mode in the "Video Black Level Setting" menu enables Toshiba DVD players to output a 0 IRE signal for richer, deeper black tones in every image. Parallel Video Output - this highly convenient feature lets you connect your Toshiba DVD player via Composite, S-Video, and/or Interlaced Component Video Outputs and watch simultaneous images from each connected TV. It is ideal for multi-room applications. TosLink for Optical Connectivity sends the audio signal to an audio/video receiver in its digital form allowing access to the Dolby Digital /DTS track encoded on the DVD disc. MP3 Audio Compatibility expands the players' functionality to include playback of custom music collections encoded via MP3 digital audio format onto CD-R or CD-RW media. Dialogue Expansion (E.A.M.) offers three audio-enhancing modes: NORMAL boosts regular digital audio signals. 3-D provides virtual surround sound from two-speaker playback systems via Spatializer N-2-2. DIALOGUE enhances center channel frequencies during playback of Dolby Digital encoded discs via the analog audio outputs. NAVI Graphical User Interface uses graphical icons (instead of simple text) in a convenient menu display for quick access to key player functions. Includes a Virtual Remote control that can be displayed on-screen, an Angle Viewer for titles encoded with multiple camera angles, Preview for creation of thumbnail chapter views, Strobe for a breakdown of a particular scene, and Capture that allows for custom wallpaper. Picture Zoom - this interactive feature allows you to select an area of the picture you want to zoom in on and magnify it. Enhanced digital processing during moving video or freeze-frame playback produces superior color fidelity and resolution, even when you're zoomed in. Also can be used to expand letterbox-only films to increase the viewable area on-screen. Remote Confirmation lets users know that a remote operation command has been received by the player with an audible 'beep' sound.
