...A few months ago I decided to sort my life out and to get organised! Of course, I couldn’t just make a few promises to myself about remembering things and doing things, no, I needed the help of some gadgetry. The gadget was to come in the form of the Toshiba e400. When I decided I wanted to buy a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) I didn’t really have an idea in mind about what features I wanted from it. All I knew was that I wanted it to be able to do everything and cost nothing. That is, of course, unrealistic, but I think what I found was not far from it. The Toshiba e400 is a nicely priced feature-rich PDA. From a design point of view it stands well. It is slim dark and sexy. ...I didn't think when my husband bought this for me that this was a very good birthday present. I'm not that into gadgets; he's much more of a "toy" person. However, after finding out how easy it is to work this, and reading my way through a set of 54 Heinlein books he had downloaded for me, playing a few games, and teaching the transcriber to recognise my handwriting, I was hooked. If you can use a PC, you can use this machine, and its portability and responsiveness is excellent. It handily "remembers" where you were after each shut down, and even when you switch functions. On the down side, as a portable device, it begins to complain pretty rapidly about battery drain, dimming the screen at ever decreasing intervals.
