The Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD player is EXCELLENT. You can hardly tell the difference between hi-def dvd's and regular dvd's because it up converts them to almost equal quality. The only downside I have found is the loading time, but the far superior picture and sound quality is well worth the minute or two it takes to load. I had bought an RCA upconvertor but ended up returning it due to the sub-par picture quality and problems with the door hanging up and other mechanical issues. I am so glad I decided to go with the Toshiba. I also feel that people would be crazy to go with BluRay. The limited movie selection and price of both players and movies, especially when there's not much difference in quality, do not make the BluRay worth it. If BluRay players had a price comparable to Toshiba's hd-dvd players, then and only then would they be worth buying. I'd give the Toshiba a 5 star rating, out of a possible 4 stars!!! In closing I'd like to say "thank you" to Toshiba for making such a superb machine at such an affordale price. Thanks, Papabear
