First of all I want to emphasize that i really love musicals of all kind but this time I was really disappointed. I watched "The Lion Kind" on Broadway and neighter the performance nor the music really captured me. I mean, if you see all the passion on stage in "Les Mis" for example or the the tradgedy of "Miss Saigon" , the "Lion King" is solid, professional and costly, but its just too much of a family musical. I watched the movie before and I admit, it touched me more than the musical version. Everything on stage, the costumes, the moves, the faces, the make-up, just reminded me more of a circus than of a nicely portrayed and gripping story. I was also astonished by the decent reactions of the audience. There was a respectable applause at the end but nor real verve. To be fair and to find a conciliative point in the end - the enthusiasm and energy of the staff performing was convincing and they really tried hard to deliver a good show. But still: familie's musical theartre, not more not less. Nothing really stirring your mind.
