I've been searching high and low for an inexpensive (happy?) yet efficient and reliable laptop stand. Why do I need a laptop stand? For people who don't know the importance of proper body mechanics, that's what a laptop stand is for. It allows you to raise the laptop so that the monitor is at eye level and you don't strain your neck. It's used for its ergonomic purposes. Being someone who's using the computer all the time, I certainly need one. I found this Targus notebook stand which they're selling for $59.99 and it comes with a chill mat which you usually buy separately. I thought it's cheap but I found out that at Circuit City they're selling it for $30 cheaper! So that's one reason already why I'm returning it. Upon getting home, I opened the box and installed it. In the box is a cheap plastic stand that seems like it's going to break easily. Installation was easy but the stand in the back keeps slipping. I'm afraid this might happen while my laptop is on it. This stand is the one that holds the base to keep it in an angle that's comfortable for its user. The chill mat didn't lower the temperature of my laptop. As for the temperature, I don't know how much heat it's supposed to dissipate because I certainly don't measure the temperature of my laptop. Lastly, it's too big and bulky for me to be carrying it for mobile use.
