Good family fun down in the great state of Alabama. This is a two day outdoor event in Decatur, Alabama as a fourth of July celebration every year. It is free and all the activities are paid for by mostley local companies and volunteers staff it. It was initially thought of during the war in Vietnam when all the hippies and stuff were anti servicemen and war. The celebration is not pro war, but designed to show support for the men and women who were fighting the war. There are various activities during the event there are games, face painting and the like for the kids. Various sports tournaments including a golf tournament, They also have a beauty pagent, the Miss Point Mallard, which is a qualifier for the miss Alabama pagent. There good music and some pretty prominent bands have played the festival including the Dixie Chicks, Survivor, Martina McBride, and Shedaisy. There is also great food including lots of the traditional southern and picnic favorites. One of the best events I have went to. I would like to take my wife one day. She is afaid I will want to move back as she is from Pennsylvannia.
