Manufacturer's product description
Sony brings low frequencies to life with their powered subwoofers. The SAW305 has a 6-¼" long-throw driver powered by a built-in 60-watt amplifier. Hear more of what music and movies have to offer when you add a Sony powered subwoofer to your audio system. It's small enough to fit most anywhere, and has multiple hook-up options, so you can add it to a shelf system, small room audio system, or anywhere you'd like to add more bass. Super Acoustically Loaded is Sony's patented subwoofer design that provides bass all the way down to the lowest musical frequencies (20 Hz) from a compact cabinet. Phase Switch reverses the input polarity of the high level inputs, providing the customer a simple switch solution to eliminate any subwoofer phasing problems relative to the main speakers. Continuously Variable Crossover allows you to precisely match your subwoofer's crossover point with your main speakers output, for the most realistic response. Bass Reflex Enclosure uses a tuned opening, or "port" box design to release more energy created by the movement of the woofer cone. Because the enclosure is sized and the port is tuned specifically to the output frequencies of the woofer, it is much more power efficient, playing louder than acoustic suspension enclosures at the same input level. 8 Ohms Nominal Impedance represents the amount of resistance to the flow of current from the amplifier. While the impedance rating of this particular speaker will vary with the frequency of the input signal, an 8 ohm rating speaker is intended to work with nearly all home amplifiers and receivers. No special amplifier or receiver setting is necessary. Home Audio Subwoofers are specifically tuned to their enclosure and designed to reproduce low and ultralow frequencies. Most DVDs (and many CDs) contain bass information that traditional speakers cannot easily reproduce. Powered subwoofers are designed specifically to reproduce those low bass frequencies, and are a vital part of a complete home theater system.
