Manufacturer's product description
Don't give up control. The NW-E405 is incredibly small, about the size of a pack of gum, yet it still has a 3-line display. This means you can better manage your music, because you can view all the important track information (song title, song duration, battery life, etc.). It comes with 512MB storage capacity, letting you load up with 345 songs. The NW-E405 also features excellent battery life: up to 50 hours of playback on one full charge. And, if you're down to your last bar, just quick charge it. A three-minute charge gives you three hours of battery life. It's time to step up to Sony.

Advantages Good quality, easy to use, battery life Disadvantages None
...I have never had or used an MP3 player before so I was expecting to be hours trying to get it working but I had it up and running within about 15 mins.
The software Sony supply, SonicStage, is a little difficult at first but once you get used to it its fine. My rule is that if I can't easily use a program within 5 minutes I don't usually persevere with it, it didn't take that long.
Once I had a few tracks loaded and started to use the player I was very impressed with the ease of use, it has a shuffle swich for easy navigation and a really clear very easy to read three line display. The sound is of excellent quality, and the earpieces are quite comfortable
The 512MB of storage, gives you capacity for 345 songs. The battery life is amazing, a fantastic 50 hours and also a quick three minute charge will give you three hours of battery...

Advantages Neat, compact design. Sound quality. Excellent battery life. Disadvantages No carry case.
...I have had this Sony MP3 player since Christmas and have been very impressed so far. The design is superb - the player fits easily in a shirt, jacket or trouser pocket or belt loop via the clip provided. The Sonicstage software is reasonably intuitive to use and you quickly get the hang of how to manage audio files and the transfer process. If you can be online while music processing then the feature which automatically locates and registers Artist, Album and Track Names is invaluable. No more typing everthything out longhand from the jewel case if you are copying from your own CDs! You need to choose the audio sample rate carefully, which will determine the number of tracks you can fit on the memory, but several hundred is average for 512Mb storage capacity. Select and play options are simple enough (choose by Artist, Album, track...
