Following in this tradition, the KV35S42 delivers performance features like a crystal-clear 35" display, digital comb filter, Velocity Modulation Scanning, S-Video input, and Matrix Surround Sound. Throw in convenience features like Easy Set Up Guide, Advanced On-Screen Menu, and Speed Surf Channel Selection, and you get an affordable, high performance television in the famous Sony mold. Universal Remote Control ergonomically designed for comfort and ease of use. It is preprogrammed with the IR codes for most brands of VCRs and Cable boxes. Digital Comb Filter provides finer detail, richer colors, less color blooming, and reduced "hanging dots", for a dramatically improved picture. Broadcast Stereo with dbx Noise Reduction/SAP improves the clarity and fidelity of stereo broadcasts by restoring dynamic range and suppressing unwanted noise. Simulated surround systems create a phantom center channel, expand the front left and right channels and place virtual surround speakers around you, simulating the effects of a multichannel system. Velocity Modulation Scanning automatically analyzes the picture for changes in the brightness that indicates the edges of on-screen objects. Sony's Velocity Modulation system then slows the scanning beam down to render these edges with greater precision. The result is increased definition, improved contrast and clear contours for a sharper picture. Only the Sony Trinitron picture tube has a cylindrical screen that's vertically flat from top to bottom! Sony's exclusive Aperture Grille takes the form of vertical slits that continue unbroken from the top of the screen to the bottom. With the Horizontal cross-bars eliminated, more electrons reach the screen. This results in a brighter, more dynamic picture.
