Advantages: had a couple really cool games Disadvantages: nintendo was much better
I was nieve when I was younger and wanted this over the nintendo entertainment system. I was the only person in my middle school that got one of these. Overall it was not a bad system. The graphics and sound were pretty good and the game selection was fairly decent. The two games that came with it were actually loaded on the system so there was no seperate cartridge. I acutally was intrested in it because of rambo and rocky video games. They were ...

Advantages Great fun to play, retro and cheap on ebay Disadvantages some games are pathetic
...In 1985 Nintendo release the NES or Nintendo Entertainment System. It was an immediate success and helped pull the game industry out of its doldrums caused by the Video Games Crash of 1983. While the NES was top dog for the remainder of the 80s, the SegaMasterSystem was stuck behind its glory. Created and released not long after the NES, the SegaMasterSystem was a much overlooked console. It is a sad fact really: the MasterSystem had some great games and innovative gadgets at the time and I do feel that after all these years, it really does deserve its dues. So, as a tribute to Sega’s first video games console, here is my review of the SegaMasterSystem.
Firstly, I have to comment to the designs of the MasterSystem. There are three main different ones. There’s the keyboard styled first version, the oval shaped MasterSystem II...

Advantages Cheap, cheerful, wouldn't break if you threw it off the Eiffel Tower Disadvantages Hmm...I'll get back to you on that one...
...Its true! Under the guise of TecToy, the SegaMasterSystem is still made, usually with several hundered built in games, as it was just so popular in South America.
The SegaMasterSystem started life in the late 80's as a final version of Sega's previous consoles, which had slowly developed into the console we know today. The SMS is simmilar in operation to its younger brother, the Mega Drive, as its a cartridge operated system, plug, round-end aerial, and 2 controller ports. It originally came as a wide, spacey console with a curious little card slot which was seldom used in Europe. It was later developed into the smaller MasterSystem 2, with the exact same features sans card slot and reset button.
Its a simple console, with simple games, which give simple pleasures. It uses a 2 button controller, although a light gun could...

Advantages Game play Disadvantages OLD
...This is a very old console, which I no longer have my hands on. Consoles use to be the only technological thing other than a TV or Radio that anyone could play with (affordably) about 10 years ago. The SegaMasterSystem came with little game cartridges and you just slotted it in. It wasn't very efficient and got clogged up with dust so some games didn't work that well. The controllers fell apart after a while, and the buttons were degreading. BUT the amount of fun was great, well for those days anyway. It doesn't compare to the PC simply because it is too old, but this is one fine thing. Almost state of the art in 1990 (i think)....

Advantages: good action weopons Disadvantages: none really
...Good action shooting game cross between contra and the segamastersystem rambo. Its a level based game were you are a member of an anti-terrorist group known as wolf force that goes to a fake african country to rescue the president from rebels. There are seven levels to complete the game with the beat up the lower level thugs and face a tougher boss at the end of each level. Weopons are reall world type machine guns, grenades, flamethrowers and the like. There is also a futuristic plasma weopon and some vehicles available in certain parts.
The game lacks originality, but I really enjoyed playing it and if you can find it cheap in a bargain bin it is worth picking it up. This is another one of those old games I am looking for a copy next time I hit the flea market...

Advantages: good action and customizable Disadvantages: mortal combat is better
...Best of the best: championship karate for gensis is a strategy and fighting game. Kind of reminds me a bit of rocky for the origional segamasterssystem if you are familiar with that particular game. Anyway you get to chose from one of several various fighters. The fighters have different attributes such as stregth, speed, or agility. You can then chose from various moves that you would like to be able to execute. You condition and workout your karate fighter in a training center and then go onto the real fight. The training will make you fight better and impove the attributes that the fighter and thus helps him get better. When you lose a fight you will have your attribues thus go down. With mortal combat around I am not too into this game. IT is good though....
