For someone that has small children, this is a great item to have. I can make my child a hot sandwich rather than the cold typical sandwich. It is very easy to use and even easier to clean up. A good griddle is very nice to have and almost essential for some of the things that I cook. This one has a very good temperature control and two cooking surfaces. One cooking surface is what you would find on a bbq type grill and the other is a flat grill. ...The item also has a bun warmer you can use at the top if you were going to cook a burger, it has room for two patties so you could make a double. I do not use the top as I found it gets the buns too dry. I think this is a better sandwich maker than many others. This is one of those intresting gadgets that is in my kitchen that I do not use ultra often. I must say it does have its good uses though and does get pulled out. I have not seen them very often but for like $60 it is a pretty good gadget at times. As you may be able to tell from looking you have two sides to the grill. I use two sponges and just wipe it down and its fine. I prefer a stainless steel grill but as of yet have been unable to find one.
