Samsung DVD HD850

Advantages Picture quality, cost
Disadvantages PIP only HDMI, no digital tuner

...After a lot of research on large screen TVs I opted for the Samsung LE40 and now I've received it I am extremely happy. The picture quality is awesome even when watching Sky through a standard RGB Scart connection. I also bought the Samsung DVD HD850 DVD Player which upscales standard DVDs to HD quality and the image is crystal clear. I don't think I'll even need a HD player when they do come out. The only downside is that there is no digital tuner built in, not a problem for me as I use sky. Also there is only 1 HDMI slot in the back, could be a problem with a DVD player and Sky HD. Overall though I am very impressed with this TV. Beats the quality I've seen on friends Plasmas of similar size and it costs less. Definately worth a look if you're looking for a large TV.... ...I have now had this DVD player since christmas, i thought i might as well buy one as i was also getting one of the HDTV's also from Samsung. The advantages of this DVD player are as follows: 1. When the DVD player has been connected to a HDTV and a DVD is being played there is a very small increase in the quality of the picture on the screen, but the price at which this DVD player is selling, i had expected there to be a big improvement in picture quality. 2. The DVD itself is very simple to use and to understand (I am not refering to the remote), the settings are very easy to change to improve your viewing e.g. you can change the high-definition pixels to 1080, 720 or 480 which may suit different T.V.'s. 3. The DVD player is multi region meaning that it will play DVD's from all over the world, this is not such a rarity these days... Read review
