I have one of these too. It works great! I like it better than a vcr. You can tape on it with out a tape and it does the same as a vcr. It plays, records, pause, fastfoward and even rewinds. I have never had any problems out of it. It works so good. It shows really good pictures and has nice sound quality. It is also very easy to use and even the kids can use it. My sister has this dvr at her house in her living room and she loves it. The kids can watch their tv shows and she can sit their and program it to record all of her shows at night. It does really nice things. It works like a vcr but does not need a tape at all. It is very easy to use and the remote is as nice as the system that you are using. This is a fantastic DVR! Picture perfect quality and sound. My Husband has this DVR and a VCR does not hold a candle to it. VCR players are a thing of the past. He watches Nascar and he always records it due to his work schedule. When we watch the race on the DVR it is like being at the track!
