Jamaica's Pride
Review of Bob Marley by franzed

Advantages: nationalistic, freedom fighter, compassionate, devoted
Disadvantages: not all countries allow the use of marijuana

My very first impression of Bob Marley was never that good. In fact, I was disgusted upon looking at him, with all those dreadlock hair plus the adornment of cannabis, it really sucks. That was because I judged him physically. I thought his songs were purely bad influence to the young people. Until such time that I happened to bump into one of his sites. I carefully read and got interested with his life story. I learned that he was a victim of racial ...
...through his music. His theme focuses on love, compassion, freedom and nationalism. Truly I can say that Bob Marley is mystical, a legendary hero, not only among all the people of Jamaica but also to everyone else in the world. He is one great significant musician Jamaica has ever produced. ... Read review

Bob Marley: Father of Reggae
Review of Bob Marley by hornetlover

Advantages: His music lives on, head banging, toe tapping lyrics
Disadvantages: n/a

...I appreciated the music of Bob Marley. Well, he wasn't the first reggae artist I have listened to. But when I heard about his name and his music, I became so persistent to know who this Bob Marley is. I loved his songs instantly and the way he interpreted every words of the song, you can feel his love for his country. One of his songs that I really love was "Buffalo Soldier". That song was so full of meaning. Bob Marley was not only singing, he lets ...
...of his songs. Bob Marley is the Father of Reggae. And he represents Jamaica through his music. So many Jamaicans are now following his footsteps. And when you say Reggae? Bob Marley would be the first name to come into one's mind. ... Read review

Legend
Review of Bob Marley by etambe01

Advantages: Great music
Disadvantages: dying young

Bob Marley Bob Marley is a late Reggae artist from Kingston, Jamaica. He was born, Feb 6 1945 and died May 11, 1981 at the relatively young age of 36. He was a Rastafarian. He started his musical career as part of the Bob Marley and the Wailers musical group before decided to go solo when the group split up. The Wailers got their break from a British musical producer who gave them £4000 to lunch their first album. It was a musical investment for ...
...to travel out of Jamaica. Bob lunch his solo career and as they say they rest is history. Rastafarian is like a religious following in Jamaica and who can tell them by their wild hair style. They also like their weed, so when Bob Marley died of lung cancer in 1981 you just knew the real cause. There is a lot of his music out there that have been best sellers, the one that you want to get though would be "Legend"(released just three years after his ... Read review

Don't Like Red Wine But I LOVE Red, Red Wine
Review of UB 40 by anonymili

Advantages: One of my all time favourite bands
Disadvantages: Ali Campbel has left

UB40 is probably the UK's most successful reggae band in history having had music spanning 3 decades to date. I have been a great fan of UB40 since the early 80s. They formed in Birmingham in the UK in 1978 and have had many a famous single in the UK charts throughout their career. EARLY DAYS AND INFLUENCES The band got its name "UB40" from the form that was used for unemployment benefit claimants (Unemployment Benefit Form 40) which has ...
...AGreement form). UB40's earlier songs and influences were very much related to unemployment and racism in varying forms. The band members grew up in the same area and when they got together initially they weren't expert musicians, just a bunch of guys who loved reggae and had been influenced strongly by this genre of music which had been around for a few years by then. They were also strongly influenced by ska, lovers rock and blues music. UB40 got ... Read review

The Untouchables w/ Tommy Ridgley
Review of The Untouchables by schellsr

Advantages: good preformers and muscicians
Disadvantages: none

...some reason. Looking at the cover caught my interest. It had seven colored men in suits around what looks like a village or town in Arabia, and for some reason I wanted to hear what the music was like. The Untouchables are a rythm and blues band and they were formed by the founder, TommyRidgley. In 1999 after his long struggle from troubles with his kidneys and suffering from lung cancer, he passed away. The band was known to back popular singers ...
...Little Willie John, and the opening band for James Brown. The Untouchables were a close knitted, R&B band whose talents were unmatched by no other band, at that time. They have been around for 50 years. Listening to their funky, cool and hip music was a pleasure for me, I think you too might be suprised. , "When I Meet My Girl" ,"Baby Do-Liddle" , "Should I Ever Love Again" , are some of the bands and Tommy Ridgley's greatest songs. ...
