Pioneer VSX 1018AH-K AV receiver
Review of Pioneer VSX 1018AH-K AV receiver by raymancarasus

Advantages: Powerful Sounds
Disadvantages: quite expensive

A fantastic receiver for a cost. I set it up as a home theater system for a Samsung 58 Plasma TV with Infinity 1200 speakers. we have a very large den & the system sounds great & video features are a plus. Quite expensive but sound is thrilling. Whether you're watching HDTV, a Blu-ray disc, or listening to music from your iPod or a USB device, the VSX-1018AH amplifies pure, precise audio. The VSX-1018AH offers HDMI (2 in, 1 out) with Deep Colour. ...
...with the highest level of precision. What you see is as natural and lifelike as possible. Enjoy your digital music collection, too. Plug and play your MP3 player via the USB-in or connect your iPod directly. The main benefit is that the connection is digital, which guarantees transfer without intermediate digital-to-analogue, analogue-to-digital conversions; what you hear is pure. ... Read review

AV RECIVER
Review of Yamaha HTR 6180 AV receiver by shubham444

Advantages: sound quality,life
Disadvantages: size

...that concern me are that Yamaha appears to have slipped in the audio quality area in the last few years. Are these "good enough"? I've never owned a Yamaha component, but I've always looked at them. My TV is a panny PZ700 and it does a great job with SD stuff like the directivo. The other devices I have connected are upconverting DVD, HDA2 and directivo HD DVR HD21-700 and HD tivo HR10-250. There are plans for a BD50 when they come out. I think ...
...a store yesterday. Some of the sales guys were checking it out and commenting on the feature set. Sounds like a good option. Not so sure I need anything upconverted to 1080P, but std stuff to HDMI is what I want, one cable on input used on the TV to keep it simple for the family. ... Read review

...has a solid reputation for image quality in the enthusiast community, and for good reason--we've found that products with HQV processing consistently have excellent image quality. Onkyo TX-SR806
Review of Onkyo TX-SR806 by zhahra

Advantages: pretty straightforward
Disadvantages: nothing

Key step-up features of the Onkyo TX-SR806: * 7.1 channels, 130 watts per channel * 5 HDMI 1.3 inputs * Onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio * 1080i video upconversion over component video outputs * THX Ultra2Plus certification * Available in August with a list price of $1,100 The features on these receivers are pretty straightforward, although the THX features are worth discussing. THX Loudness Plus is a type of sound ...
...levels. We haven't had a chance to listen to THX Loudness Plus on a receiver yet, but we're betting audiophiles will prefer clean, unprocessed sound, and leave Loudness Plus turned off. The TX-SR806 is also THX Ultra2 Plus certified, which means it meets certain technical standards set by THX. While the certification isn't meaningless, it doesn't necessarily mean a receiver is going to sound good, and there are plenty of receivers that lack THX certification ... Read review
