Manufacturer's product description
ProxLink wirelessly interconnects devices with RS-232 interfaces. Any devices that are interconnected through a standard RS-232 interface and cable at 19.2Kbps or lower can be wirelessly connected with ProxLink. ProxLink is a wireless replacement for the RS-232 cable. ProxLink is resistant to interference and noise from other devices operating in the 902-928MHz ISM band. Multiple ProxLinks can be operated simultaneously in the same facility. ProxLink provides a simple and reliable wireless replacement for any three wire asynchronous (RXD. TXD and GND) RS-232 link running at speeds up to 19.2Kbps. Using spread spectrum technology, the ProxLink provides robust, interference resistant operation, which penetrates through walls and other obstructions. ProxLink offers a working range of up to 1000 feet. The actual range may vary due to differences in physical operating environments. Spread spectrum technology allows use of these products without a FCC site license. Proxim has certified these products for use as unlicensed spread spectrum devices with the FCC. In addition, ProxLink's multiple spread spectrum channels and robust CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) protocol allows multiple radios to operate simultaneously without interfering with each other.
