I have used Epson Stylus 440 for more than 3 years. The printing speed is slow when when compared with latest models of Epson. This desk jet model has many limitations. As the cartridges does not come with a new head the quality comes down a bit after a usage of six months. In my case it came down very much as I used it to print on greeting cards. As I used it to print it with black ink,Further quality with black printout was poor. The big disadvantage ...

Advantages: cheap and easy to use Disadvantages: can be annoyingly noisy and slow to print
I've owned the Epson Stylus C48 since January 2006; I think I might have been one of the first to purchase it, as I couldn't easily find ink cartridges for this model for a few months. My old faithful Epsom C20SX died (R.I.P. - that means Rest In Pieces) after many years of loyal service and what better way to show one's appreciation than to go buy another product from the same manufacturer? I would have bought the same one except I wanted to go ... ...I settled for the Epson Stylus C48 printer very quickly. It was priced at just under $100 at the time and had a colour and black cartridge included in the box which was handy. Unbeknownst to me there was no printer cable in the box, so I literally had to get back in the car as soon as I'd got home and unpacked the box to get a cable, luckily PCWorld is only about a 10 minute drive from home. I wasn't sure whether or not to be annoyed with PCWorld ...

Advantages: Reliable, does it's job fairly well Disadvantages: Loud, acts weird at times, not for everyone
...setting.
I have the Epson LQ-570e at work and it serves one purpose only, and that is to print out checks. We print checks in triplicate - with the top copy being the actual check, and two carbonless copies below to be kept for accounting purposes. This printing on carbonless paper makes the dot matrix printer a useful printer to have in the office. You can't do this type of printing with an inkjet or laser printer - it won't make the copies.
Now ... ...for, I will give this review in terms of how I use it.
The print quality is not that great, especially when the ribbon is getting old. I haven't tried printing any graphics with it, so I cannot attest to that. When printing the checks, I notice that on occasion it will be misaligned or something, and there will be a small gap in a line, pretty much splitting a word in two lengthwise. Not a big deal for us, as the check will still clear the bank. ...

Advantages: VERY cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: Print quality leaves a lot to be desired
I got the Epson C20SX free with my PC in 2002. At the time I was thrilled with it, as it was my first new printer (previously I'd only ever had second hand printers which had been handed down to me by friends or family members who'd upgraded, etc). ~*~PROs AND CONs~*~
If you want a printer just to print out a bit of basic correspondence and a few basic colour images then this model is absolutely fine for this purpose. Printing out basic letters, ... ...use original print cartridges by Epson the quality could be much better. On advice from various friends and colleagues, I've tried different settings for the print quality and the paper type, using photo paper, matt and glossy, print quality paper, etc, but have never been entirely satisfied with the overall output. I would stress that using original Epson ink cartridges definitely gives a better print quality than using recycled / remanufactured ...
