My step son bought him one of these with his birthday money and he is really enjoying it. The picture comes in really good on all the movies that he watches in it. It is portable so he can carry it on family vacations and to take out side to sit in the warm weather. The sound volume goes up pretty loud. We bought this portable DVD player for our kids a couple of years ago because we were going to a lot of doctor's appointments and such. It is ok, but I wouldn't rate it great. The sound quality could be way better. The volume starts to crack when increased even the slightest. So it has to be kept on low volume and for that reason you have to be very close to it to hear it.
