Darker than a trip to the toilet at 3AM
Review of Pink Floyd by Dante07

Advantages: all
Disadvantages: nothing

...I know virtually nothing about Pink Floyd and so had to do a bit of research to get myself in the proper position to make an accurate judgement of this LP. This was nowhere near the band's first release, in fact, their debut album, Piper At The Gates of Dawn had been released 6 years earlier, in 1967. This was said to be one of the greatest works in the British Psychedelica/prog rock field and as I'm quite into bands such as The Small Faces, I might ...
...blend into "Money", one of Pink Floyd's better known tracks. This idea of tracks blending into each other was one that Pink Floyd used frequently for their 70s concept albums and was pretty revolutionary for the time. Money isn't really a track that you can tap your feet to, mainly due to the odd 7/4 time signature used (7 beats in a bar instead of say 3 or 4), and with the cheeky and somewhat evil sounding baseline, the music helps back up the lyrics' ... Classic rock
Review of Pink Floyd by dorian151

Advantages: all
Disadvantages: none

Pink Floyd are a classic band, with a very goot unique style of music. They are very well known, and are still listened to amongst the youths and younger generation of people at this time. They are very well known for their hit single called another brick in the wall, which wasrecently remixed to create a new song which was listened to all around the world, and many people purchased it and had it with them all the time on their mp3 players. Echoes. ( The Best Of Pink Floyd) 2X-CD
Review of Echoes (The Best Of Pink Floyd) - Pink Floyd by TommyRooney1987 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Double CD. everything you need for Floyd. Great art illutrations. good value for money, an Inspirational album
Disadvantages none

...Echoes(The Best Of Pink Floyd), Is the most recent of Pink Floyd Albums in the past few years. This Album is more 'Promotional' than any of the other albums released. I have many Pink Floyd Album including 'Is There Anybody Out There?' (special limited edition boxset), but there is something very special about this album. Of course the songs on this album are ones that you have probably heard before, but the way this album has been compiled is special in the respect that every song goes in together and in my opinion creates a theme which makes CD1 different from CD2. The song 'Echoes' itself is absolute genius. I have one time to many bought an album of many genres having the name of a song in the album also being the name of the album itself, and not being satisfied. This album in itself is just 'pure' satisfaction. This album... Read review

Pink Floyd gets the Philharmonic Treatment
Review of Symphonic Pink Floyd - Pink Floyd by kwildchild taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages A different way of listening to Pink Floyd's Music.
Disadvantages Those who don't like orchestral music will hate it.

...There was two reasons that I bought this album, the first one was that I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd and have all their albums, the second is I am also a fan of Roger Dean's superb artwork and this album has them both. Ok so the music is not performed by Pink Floyd but the album adds a new feel to the tracks they are rather dark and sinister, mind you the tracks are taken from two of Floyd's dark albums 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'The Wall'. But the London Philharmonic Orchestra play the pieces perfectly and at time you end up singing the words along with violin's etc. Be warned 'Us and Them' is for the open minded, if you think you are getting an album that will sound just like Pink Floyd then think again, 'Us and Them' is very different, from the violin taking the part of Clare Torry's superb cries of 'Great gig in the Sky... PINK FLOYD a tribute.
Review of Pink Floyd by gary1609 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages No-one does it quite like Floyd
Disadvantages Many have tried but only two have succeeded

...My first introduction to Pink Floyd was as a little 11 yr old who at the time thought they sounded wierd. This was because Sid Barret was the lead songwriter for the band, and spent most of his time trying the "funny" substances that were the rage at that time. This was self evident in the style of the lyrics for example: "Set controls for the heart of the sun" and "the bike song". Sadly the funny substances caused the breakdown which he has never fully recovered .Then came Roger Waters and although the ways of the group were not smooth ( Roger Waters -attempted to take the bands name, after a break up, through the courts. (Thankfully this failed.) So the band reformed and the rest ,so they say, is history. They went onwards and upwards recruiting more and more followers as time went by. I rediscovered the joys of listening to Pink Floyd... Read review

Welcome to the Machine ...
Review of "Wish you were here" album, Pink Floyd by  Dante07

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...Fortunately for Pink Floyd time was now on their side. "Dark Side" had opened the doors to the financial gold mine and there was to be no unseemly scramble to produce a follow up. By 1974 Pink Floyd were undoubtedly masters of the recording studio, but they were first and foremost a live band. Long before it was committed to vinyl, the music of "Dark Side Of The Moon" had been honed and refined on the road. As the compositions for "Wish You Were Here" began to take shape the band had little hesitation in unveiling a key part their new work in progress in the live arena. The astonishing track which concert audiences first heard in1974 was then simply entitled "Shine On". Under its formal titel "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" it was to become one of the most celebrated pieces in the Pink Floyd catalogue. The overall theme of "Dark Side... Read review

Barking in the sky ....
Review of "Animals" album, Pink Floyd by  Dante07

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...The album The year 1977 marked the beginning of a difficult era for Pink Floyd. It had begun auspicoiusly enough with the release in January 1977 of Animals. This particular album however, was never destined to be hailed as the greatest Floyd offering ever. It received a respectful if not overly warm welcome from the fans critics alike, yet it still proved itself to be both a commercial and an artistic success. True, the album had not scaled the heights of Dark Side Of The Moon either financially or creatively; but it was still a huge accomplishment by any standards reaching number 1 all over Europe, number 2 in the UK and number 3 in the States. Ironically 1977 was also the year in which the band had finally cemented the stellar status which every would-be rock star dreams of attaining. The In The Flesh tour had confirmed... Read review

Excellent band
Review of Led Zeppelin by  dorian151

Advantages: all
Disadvantages: none

...Led Zeppelin are another classic rock band that I really enjoy, considering that I usually prefer modern rock to old rock, which I would class this as. My favorite song is obvious... its always gonna be stairway to heaven isnt it, just brilliant music with such feeling and passion in it, creating the best songs and making the most out of them with brilliant production quality and sound. The guitarist again was very good, and plays in a very similar style to the man who plays for Pink Floyd. I reccomend listening to this band, they are very soft at times, but full of power and passion in their music, something that you dont get in modern rock these days, something which is missing and I loved!...
