The docking station replicates all of the connectors and ports from the sides of the 15" PowerBook 2003 and routes the connectors, through its unique design, to the back of the dock. The dock allows for all of the peripheral devices normally connected to the sides of the PowerBook - Power, Ethernet, Modem, FireWire, USB, Audio In, Audio Out to be plugged into the back of the dock, and remain plugged in, independent of the computer. Taking the computer from the office or the home, or moving it from one room to another, doesn't require disconnecting and reconnecting several devices.

Advantages quick release for portables Disadvantages Outrageous price/lousy customer service.
...I swore to myslf that I would not buy another bookendz after the one I bought for my titanium powerbook caused the auxiliary fan to come on and stay on whenever it was in the dock. But the side ports on the aluminum powerbooks presented new needs for my set-up and so I took the plunge again, thinking any bugs had been worked out.
It took a little begging to convince Paul Korpi (the lone-wolf of bookendz - bad sign) to send it to me by anything other than UPS ground. Seems they have no trouble charging you 250+ for their plastic rig but they can't shell out for decent shipping. Finally, I arranged second-day delivery.
The new bookendz arrived and worked perfectly, except when it came to charging my powerbook. While it was easy to get Mr. Korpi to take my money, it was impossible to get him on the phone to get technical support...
