The Philips MX1055D combines a Surround Sound Receiver, 6 speakers (5 compact satellite speakers and one 100Watt Powered Subwoofer), and an integrated DVD for total home cinema enjoyment. At 600 Watts of power, this system decodes both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Pro-Logic channels for maximum sound effects. The system also offers full DVD Video playback, 5 connections for other accessories, cables for quick hook-up, and a handy quick installation guide. The DVD drive plays DVD and Video CD discs as well as CD, CDR and CDRW discs recorded on a CD recorder. The system has a full on screen display for easy set-up and operation. Other video features include zoom, multi-angle and parental lock - and this is not all! Download MP3 songs from the Internet on a PC and record them on a CD. This special "MP3-CD" can now be played on this DVD-Receiver. One MP3-CD can carry up to 12 hours of music. The set is designed to playback MP3-CDs recorded with a bit-rate (quality level) between 32 kbps and 320 kbps. It will also handle variable bit-rate recordings. Philips patented wOOx Technology ensures superior bass results. The dual suspension bass radiator, together with dedicated amplifier circuitry, is especially designed to produce and handle high dynamic sound signals at very low frequencies. Because of the dual suspension, the excursion of the membrane can be extreme. This, in combination with the symmetrical sandwich construction, provides for very low and precise bass without noticeable distortion. The net effect of using wOOx Technology is a tight bass sound that is significantly "lower and louder" than conventional mini shelf systems.
