Well, here's another tip - don't be blinded by science, stick to your guns and be specific in what you're seeking - don't fall for the salesman's patter and don't be conned into buying stuff you don't want, and do your research. Have a look through one of the monthly PC mags which load down the shelves at places like Tesco and Morrisons and price up a decent spec system.
Sorry to get so anorakish, but again from PC Pro, here's a few package prices, which will form the basis of my own choice when I get there in about six...
