...I Bought a Pentax 67 II in June 2000 because I wanted the most compact and lightweight 6x7 slr I could find for landscape and travel photography. Although I am a regular tripod user I find it very useful to be able to hand hold the camera down to 1/30 sec with wide angle lenses and down to 1/60 sec with the 105mm standard lens. With the mirror locked up this camera is capable of producing sharp images with the camera on a very light tripod and using the often suspect shutter speeds of 1/2sec to 1/15sec. Build quality is up to professional standards and while it is not the most versatile camera around with only a 1/30sec flash sync speed and no interchangeable back for me its ease of use wins through.... ...The Pentax 67II is not a small camera. Neither is it light: it is built solidly to take the punishment professionals can deal out. However, if you can put up with those features, this is a serious camera designed for rugged use both in and out of the studio. I use mine for mountain and mountaineering shots and the slick handling really helps: anyone who has used a 35mm camera will feel at home with this beast. The handling is very intuitive. The range of interchangeable lenses and other accessories is wide, as befits a camera in production as long as this one. A word of warning: if buying second hand make sure you are getting the lastest model, the 67II [67 model 2], as there are a number of different incarnations of this camera floating about.
