Manufacturer's product description
To enjoy DVD movies at home, just plug in the AC adapter, connect patch cords to run the video to your TV and the audio to your TV or receiver, and sit back with the wireless remote. This affordable portable is super-thin and super-lightweight. It's small enough to carry along wherever you go; full-featured enough to serve as the heart of your home theater system. It delivers a great picture whether you connect it to a 20" TV in a bedroom or a big-screen projection TV in the family room. Add Panasonic's optional battery pack and you can bring the DVD-PV40 along on vacation. Connect it to a backseat monitor in your car and keep the kids entertained during long driving days. The DVD-PV40 gives you versatile playback options for music, too: it can handle your regular CDs, audio CD-R and CD-RWs, and MP3 files stored on CD-R. For solo music and movie enjoyment, you can plug in a pair of (optional) headphones.

Connector Type:
1 x SPDIF output ( TOSLINK ) - rear
1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) - front
Advantages Very small and comes complete with remote Disadvantages Doen't come with a screen
...The panasonicDVD-PV40 is a very funky little DVD playter. I bought this during a sale and paid £100 for the display model, but I believe they are still just over £200.
The player is approx. 16cm - 13cm - 1cm. So as can be seen it is very compact. I have it in silver and blue so it looks pretty cool as well.
The player has built-in Dolby Digital surround sound, as well as virtual surround sound if you are using a normal TV or small screen as fitted in a car. It is however not designed for a car, but does have anti-jog capabilities, but does not come with the 12v attachment or power suply, but an inverter or a 9v power pack solves this problem.
With 100x smooth video play-back, it also allows you to scan through the longest of films in seconds, still being able to perfectly see the images on screen, so you can find the exact point...
