The SL-SW950 features impressive audio performance and an aggressive new design. And, true to the ShockWave family of products, these models have a tough exterior. A water-resistant shell protects the units and a lock mechanism ensures the compartment closes tightly. A special gasket buckle-lock seal around the CD lid and a deep-seated, water-resistant battery compartment make these portables less prone to damage from dirt, water and the elements. For improved performance while on the go, the player uses Panasonic's "No Skip" Anti-Skip System. "No Skip" technology features a unique construction designed with rubber bushings to absorb the shock, while an anti-skip mechanism and anti-skip digital serve to further prevent skipping. To ensure music does not skip a beat, a memory reserve is built in for added back up. The SL-SW950 stores up to 48 seconds of music in memory. When the unit is bumped, causing a tracking error, the system plays back music from the memory buffer until correct tracking resumes. This CD player also gives first-class audio performances. It includes a MASH 1-bit digital-to-analog converter, which reproduces all of the subtle sounds that make CDs so rich, while Panasonic's Extra Bass System (XBS) adds big bass sound. To ensure hours of music entertainment, both models include Panasonic's Power Last High Efficiency Power System. It can be powered with two "AA" alkaline batteries, or with optional rechargeable batteries or optional car power adaptor. Of course, this model contains many other popular CD features such as, 24-track Random Access Programming, Resume and Skip/Search. A hold button is included to prevent accidental button pushing. A large, easy-to-read LCD display is located on the top of the unit to easily view operating functions.
