The palm-size AG-EZ50U features three high-performance CCDs to produce amazingly detailed, true-to-life digital video and is equipped with a world-renowned LEICA DICORMAR lens. The camcorder's dedicated image-processing circuit allows shooting of 1, 680, 000 pixels high-resolution still images (1488 x 1128 resolution). Incorporating a built-in SD Memory Card slot, data can be stored on a postage-stamp size 64 Megabyte SD Memory Card. A single 64MB SD Memory Card stores up to 180 still images at 1488 x 1128 resolution or 1, 760 still images at VGA (640 x 480) resolution. The camcorder's IEEE1394 digital interface terminal allows efficient uploading of digital data to PCs for loss-less nonlinear editing and for dubbing to other DV based recorders. In addition to crisp digital images, the mini-DV recording format provides high-quality PCM digital audio at 48-kHZ/16-bit 2-channel or 32kHz/12-bit 4-channels. For amazing close-ups, the unit offers a 10X optical/25X digital/100X super-digital zoom. Its large-diameter focus ring, 3.5" LCD Monitor and color viewfinder allow for precise focusing and easy framing, and its Optical Image Stabilization provides for clear, jitter-free hand held shooting. The AG-EZ50U is also equipped with an array of digital special effects including multi-picture, picture-in-picture, wipe, mix, strobe, gain-up, trail, mosaic, mirror, negative, sepia, black-and-white, and solarization. It offers a host of image-enhancing functions including five programmed Auto Exposure modes; manual controls for focus, shutter speed adjustment, iris (up to +18dB gain-up) and an ND filter; five Auto White Balance modes (auto, manual, preset fluorescent, indoor, outdoor) and a one-touch Backlight Compensation function.
