Excellent camera - especially underwater !

Advantages Great images - ability to customise controls

...I have had the 8080WZ for 7 months and been very pleased. I chose between it and the Sony 828 - and prefered the shape and customisable options on this. A significant use for me is underwater - I got the olympus housing for it and had a sea&sea YS90 strobe already. They work well together - every control is accessible through the housing - but the ability to define 'my mode' before diving and know that once selected all the many settings will be exactly how I want them is key. The images I have taken have astonished many - especially the ability to crop just part of an 8Mpixel image and have a high res close up. There are so many options and some such the hue, contrast, saturation adjustments seem to make very little differnece even on extreme settings. I find it comfortable to handle, quickish to use - but like all(?) digitals... Read review

...I bought this camera a couple of months ago and I would have no problems in recommending this camera to anyone who asked. I say this because the Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom has many plus points, The high quality of the black finish on its magnesium alloy body is superb and the design of the body means that it will fit comfortably in your hands and the button placing are spot on in the way they are arranged. Another useful feature you find on this camera is its multi positional LCD screen, this means you can hold the camera over your head or down by your feet. The Final thing that makes the C-8080 better than all its competitors is its battery life it comes with a specifically designed battery which goes on for hundreds of pictures. For those of you that are more technically minded the 5x optical zoom covers the most useful focal lengths... Read review
