Advantages Flexible and manual control of exposure etc
Disadvantages slightly heavy for carrying in the pocket.

...I've always been an Olympus fan having owned various Olympus Single Lens Reflex film camera in the past. Moving over to digital I started with a Kodak which I really didn't enjoy using due to weight and clumsy handling. For ebay use I got a new kodak CX6200. It is light and airy but the comparison between this and the Olympus is night and day. I know the Olympus is more expensive but the host of features it has is great. For anyone needing true camera control such as exposure, shutter speed etc it has it all. Couple this with 10x optical and you have a great all round camera. Picture resolution and quality is high and is partly due to the high quality lens. I was a bit worried about being able to use the camera but the auto control is very simple and the rear screen can be switched of to preserve batteries. The viewfinder is live... Read review

Great Photos with this Digital Camera

Advantages crisp photos, just like an SLR

...The Olympus C 740 is one of the better digital cameras on the market. I upgraded my digital camera a few years ago and the difference is astounding. I mainly took photos with my Canon SLR because I hadn't seen a digital photo look as good as film, until I saw an Olympus camera. This model has fantastic resolution, I can print and hang photos from this model and it looks as good as my 35mm photos. I can take short silent movies, which I have and added music to later. If you want sound you can go to the next model up. The quality of the movies aren't great and it takes a lot of disk space, so don't buy it solely for that purpose. The zoom is high, but you don't get a crisp of a photo with zoom, I can't print those but I can't print many zoom photos from my 35mm either. The only big flaw I can think of is battery life.
