This camera is truly exceptional. A photography purist for years (using analog cameras, darkrooms) I was skeptical about switching to digital. However, the functionality of the D40x is so impressive, that I have been converted!
This camera body is light and compact, great for anyone who loves to have a camera with them at all times. The controls are very intuitive and easy to use.
The 10 megapixel format of the D40x (with quality options in JPEG or RAW) makes every shot beautifully fine and detailed. Beware that the autofocus function ONLY works with AF-S or AF-I lenses, which have their own drive motor.
In-camera retouching is available if you're on the go, and you can operate the camera with full Manual controls.
Overall this is a beautiful camera, recommended if you are ready to move to digital, but want to retain as much control as possible over your images.
