...just want to try the Western Digital brand and for just back-up my old data. From the casing and the design it's ok, I couldn't find any HDD 3.5" enclosure like this one. Black, shinny, and great shape. With LED indicator. Nice design. From the data transfer, still standard speed with using USB 2.0 and the power from adapter. The capacity of 500GB fit my usage for back-up just my old company data and a few old music and video that I rarely play anymore. ... Read review

Western Digital has been producing High Capacity hard drives ever since. They're on top when it comes to hard drive capacity. This one comes in 500Gb enormous storage capacity. It's almost unlimited when storing your personal files (vidoes, pictures, movies, etc.) I've been using this one for my personal files and sometimes office work. Although it looks a little bulky, but its light for its size. And it also comes in a very fine finish design. ...
...grab and plug. Though there are some WD portable hard drives they have created, like the passport which comes very handy at 160Gb, I would still go for this one. ...an alright usb hard drive. Western digital has always been know for having the best internal hard drives since the late 80's. It has a nice shelf look to it, that's way we bought this one in the first place. But as far as usb externals go now days I would suggest a cavalry drive. Good hard drive. Nice plastic case. When the drive spins up, it makes a bit too much noise in my opinion. It's easy to install, windows finds it automatically. There is some extra software with it (I think backup software), but I didn't use it. Summary: good product.
