I joined MySpace several years ago right before it boomed in popularity. It was out of curiousity because one of my friends saw a link to a MySpace group someone we knew had on his website, so she checked it out and saw it was similar to other sites like MiGente. She joined and sent me the link, and I joined as well. We did it just out of "Hey, why not?" and right after that, MySpace was all over the place. I love it. I have reconnected with long lost friends/classmates and family. It was also a great way to keep connected with acquaintances I never would have thought would stay in my life. I never did like strangers reaching out to me so I set my privacy settings so only people who truly know me could contact me.
Lately I haven't been checking out Myspace like I used to (I used to visit it every day, several times a day!), but when I do it is always nice to see a message or comment from a friend I went to HS with or a cousin who is miles away. Just recently an old HS friend posted a bulletin about organizing our 10 year reunion. I never thought we'd have one, and we never would have had this conversation if it weren't for Myspace.
