You might remember my review about my LG Chocolate "Chocolate with plain Taste", published about two weeks ago…
Interrupted phone-calls with friends and family have 2 possible consequences. The first one is the fact that some people will decide not to call you anymore. In some cases, this is not really bad news…
The second possible consequence is the fact that people who really like to talk to you will start to think about how to stop this situation of unsatisfying phone calls.

If you are a lucky person like me, all this will certainly happen some days before Christmas and one of these people who really like you will plan to give you a present and say this
famous sentence:

"Ah!!!! I know exactly what he needs!!!"

In my case, my Aunt Greta, 75 years old, living in TOGO and regular shopper at electronic stores, was the one with the great idea.

It's December 25th, and as usual, I'm seating alone again in front of a huge Christmas-tree and self-made turkey: friends and family who wanted to join me had to unfortunately cancel their plans due last minutes priorities. As the same procedure for every year I decided to eat the first part of the goose, open the received presents then continued with the food.

A pleasant surprise was waiting for me as I opened the package of Aunt Greta. Right next to the knitted socks with a zigzag design there was something that directly caught my eyes:

A Motorola SLVR L6

What does it look like?

A Motorola SLVR L6is a candy-bar or block style mobile, packed in black. The silver bordered buttons on the black background make it a product matching perfectly to my taste: chastely, unobtrusive but strong in expression.
The mobile with a weight of 105 gm was in such a way smooth, that even if you like to wear these trendy slim-fit jeans, it will be at home in your trouser pocket.
Since my last experience with a nice-designed mobile was not the best, I stayed doubtfully and began to find out more, with a first touch of the keypad

The entire keypad flashes in blue and the display switches on in a sandy colour.

***Dimensions : 4.48" x 1.96" x 0.51" (114 x 50 x 13 mm)***

I began to like my new mobile as well as my Christmas night. But before my joy took
bigger dimensions, the ringer of my LG chocolate that coincidentally sounded off exactly in that moment, reminded me to a sound note of caution.

I want to know more

The first setups with a new mobile are always the same. You set the time, language and choose a ring tone.

A Motorola SLVR L6 provides you 4 board-languages to choose, a quite moderate selection between French, English, Italian and German. Since no one of them is my mother tongue (Mina), I decided to put English.

In the past, I was always irritated by the polyphonic ring tones of Motorola mobiles which sound like a rendition in a mediocre disco. The selection here is quite big with 72 possibilities but when all ring tones have more or less the same sound, I don't know if we can really speak about a helpful selection.

While I was setting up my phone, I also had the opportunity to check the keypad in relation to my old problem. I assume that a career as Piano-player would definitely not be the best for me because of my relatively big fingers. To type a message on a mobile is usually a big mess because they are relatively too big.
But on this mobile, I have the feeling that my fingers are arguably thinner. Also the borders of each button are built in a way, that you touch only the button of your choice.
What are the further features of this Mobile?

Let me make a short introducing of the most interesting features:

Multimedia

-The Camera
Resolution: VGA (640 x 480)
The camera is located at the head of the display with the release-button on the right side of the mobile. Through the easy manageability of the camera, you can shoot pictures in a very comfortable way.
- A video streaming
This allows you an immediate playback as the video content is sent over the network.
-Video capture
Here, you have the ability to record an hour or more of video on the 64 MB memory card of the mobile.
-Music player
With the built-in Mini USB located at the right side of the mobile, you can upload MP3, AAC or similar music files on the mobile.

-Video capture: with the ability to record an hour or more of video on the 64 MB memory card of the phone.
- J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) is a feature that allows the device to run small, user-installable software applications written especially for mobile devices such as phones.
***Battery***: Because of past experiences, the battery of a mobile is one of the first things that I check. The battery-details of this mobile sound at least promising:
Talk: 4 hours (240 minutes)
Standby: 410 hours (17.1 days).

This data makes tell me why my aunt offered me this mobile: she wanted to have long phone-calls with her grandson….
After some weeks, I could confirm these specifications through my own experiences. During the week, I usually don't have to charge the mobile. Only at the weekends, when I have few long calls (my aunt always call Saturdays), I charge the mobile.
I have also to mention the speaker phone features as one of the most interesting features.
Speaker phone allows the phone to be used at a short distance, without the phone being held next to the face. It allows a small group of people near the phone to all hear and participate in the conversation. It is also useful for hands-free, safe operation in an automobile, and when on hold for a long period of time.

Further features

- Bluetooth; Vibration; PC Sync (to connect the mobile to your computer); Voice dialling; Warp 2.0 browser.
Missing Features

FM Radio; call screening; integrated PDA; real Music ringers
Final Act

One month after I got the Motorola, I can just confirm the enjoyment of the night of 25th December, as I opened the present. I can describe the mobile as a product of high comfort and reliability.
The available features are not the innovated ones but they achieve all kind of basic necessities and above all: they make a call phone easy and comfortable.
For a man, it's an interesting und useful tool because of his chastely smooth form, easy to be pocked. For women, I assume that the long call time could be a convincing argument to buy the mobile. After long calls with Eva, Dolores and Lina about the newly purchased shoes, you will still have some minutes to say good night to Robert….
Whoever is looking for a simple mobile with basic features in solid package, should buy this mobile. You won't regret it.
I had almost lost sight of telling you how my Christmas evening ended. I woke up the next day with the mobile in the hand. A half-finished goose was still on the table and through the mobile; I could hear a person snoring. I remember in this moment that I had called her to giver her thanks for the present. The battery preserved perfectly….
