A good value for your money. I have printed images as big as A4 size without compromising quality, which is actually excelent. This camrera is a good choice for someone looking for the transiction between a compact digital camera and a digital SLR beacause it is fairly easy to use, it has good advanced features and manual settings to allow creativity, the flexible viewfinder and LCD screen, is defenitly a must for experiment different angles without breaking your back. The only minus is that after a while you might get a bit more ambitious with your photography wanting to experiment with different lenses. All in all I recomend this camera. I do not want to spend another $200-300 on conversion lenses, will use this camera for real estate, read the professional reviews as well as the consumer reviews. Minolta has a great reputation as far as customer service is concerned which was a very important consideration to me. Before buying, you can even download the manual from the minolta website and study all the features that this camera provides. I also chose this camera because it is considered difficult to use by the amateur, this is what I was looking for, a camera that can keep me interested for many years to come. Konica - Minolta A1 experience Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A1 by niglom taken from ciao.co.uk Advantages reasonably light, great picture quality, long lens, anti-shake works well Disadvantages poor evf quality, slow shutter response ...balance and with a shutter speed of 30 seconds to 1/16,000th of a second, well capable of almost any kind of shot. Speed Start up time is quite quick but there is a significant lag between pressing the shutter button and the picture being taken. Just enough for you to lose that expression or moment of action that you'd been waiting for. It seems that the only way of overcoming this is to upgrade to a £1,000+ digital SLR. Noise I wouldn't recommend this camera be set at much more than 400 ASA as noise becomes apparent. Viewfinder The Electronic Viewfinder is limited to only 235,000 which makes for difficult fine focus control The A1 will work in RAW mode and its results although slow to record are of a very high quality.
