Technology  unique new   Vari-Angle LCD monitor
and built-in 7x optical zoom lens.  8.0-Megapixel
2/3-inch Interlace Scan CCD  The new Konica
Minolta DiMAGE A200 has an 8.0-megapixel  2/3-inch
interlace scan   CCD. With 8 million effective
pixels  photographers can take subtle  expressive
images that capture even individual hairs or the
stitches of a suit in sharp   detail. These
incredibly detailed images can then be transferred
and printed   onto 10.9 x 8.1 inch paper at 300
dpi.   CCD Shift-Type Anti-Shake Technology
Konica Minolta?s Anti-Shake technology gives
photographers a highly effective   way to deal
with handheld shaking ? a major cause of
substandard images    especially with telephoto
and dimly lit shots. Users can expect better
images in   low light conditions without relying
on a higher ISO setting or a tripod. The   new
DiMAGE A200 features a CCD-shift mechanism to
stabilize images by offsetting   the shaking
pattern of the user?s hand. This gives unrivalled
stability at up to   3 shutter speeds slower than
on digital cameras without Anti-Shake technology.
The CCD shift mechanism also allows for more
freedom in the mechanical layout of   the camera?s
interior  which keeps it compact. Anti-Shake
technology can offset   two kinds of
shaking?high-frequency shaking of muscles and
low-frequency shaking   of the body.   Vari-Angle
LCD Monitor  The 1.8-inch TFT LCD monitor rotates
270? vertically and 180? horizontally    allowing
photographers to hold the camera in a comfortable
position at high- and   low-angle shots while
still viewing the LCD straight on. And  because
photographers can view the LCD while they get in
just the right position for a   self-portrait  the
DiMAGE A200 is great for taking shots from a
variety of   different angles.  Newly Advanced LSI
and Konica Minolta CxProcess? III Image Processing
The advanced LSI engine reduces power consumption
and suppresses camera noise    while optimizing
color reproduction with exceptional accuracy.
Konica Minolta?s   CxProcess? III image-processing
technology helps reproduce shadows and
highlights with outstanding accuracy  so images
look natural and true-to-life.   The new DiMAGE
A200 also introduces a new sRGB color mode
(Portrait sRGB) that   brings out beautiful skin
tones in portraits.  Konica Minolta GT Lens and
Anomalous Dispersion (AD) Glass  Designed
specifically for digital photography  the GT lens
is an all-glass   apochromatic (APO) zoom lens.
The benefits for the user include sharp and clear
pictures absent of any color aberration  even
when using the large aperture   setting. The lens
is the heart of the camera and this GT lens has 16
elements in   13 groups. The anomalous dispersion
(AD) glass contributes to things like   suppressed
distortion  and reduced flare and chromatic
aberration  while   aspheric glass elements work
to make the lens compact. The camera?s improved
optical low pass filter and the logical
arrangement of the lens make for higher
productivity and quality-assurance in the
manufacturing process  ensuring that   the lens is
suitable for an 8.0-megapixel CCD.   60 Frames Per
Second High Speed Live View  Both the LCD and EVF
give a fast 60-frames per second live view (for
still   recording; 30 frames per second for movie
recording)  making for incredibly   smooth viewing
of recorded images. It also reduces the time lag

Manufacturer's product description

Featured on the new DiMAGE 7 CCD boasts 5.24 million pixels, the highest number available in consumer digital cameras. Even when cropping a digital image file the image can retain an impressive resolution. Each pixel in the CCD is relatively large, providing a wide dynamic range. In dark conditions the CCD automatically turns up the gain to enable focusing without the use of an AF illuminator. DiMAGE 7 has a high-power optical centerpiece: an all-glass 7x zoom Minolta lens that has the flexibility to shoot wide-angle landscapes to intimate portraits using the telephoto setting. DiMAGE 7's zoom range is equivalent to a 28mm to 200mm lens in 35mm format. This new Minolta digital camera features a new, high-performance lens class for digital cameras: Minolta GT lenses. This provides high-image quality with minimum chromatic aberration and curvilinear distortion, and high resolution, especially on the high end of the spectrum. The DiMAGE 7's lens achieves high performance with 16 glass elements in 13 groups. It has two AD (anomalous dispersion) glass elements and two aspheric elements, resulting in sharp, detailed images at all focal lengths. DiMAGE 7 features Minolta's proprietary CxProcess, a new image processing technology that provides clear and natural images. CxProcess balances extremes by controlling sharpness, color reproduction, tonal gradation and noise to optimize results. The camera features a 12-bit A/D conversion that provides a fine tonal gradation, with deep shadows, brilliant highlights and millions of colors. This delivers exquisite details in portraiture: smooth complexion, rich shadows and luminous highlights. DiMAGE 7's exclusive Digital Hyper Viewfinder provides photographers with clear images, even under bright light. With its reflective ferroelectric LCD viewfinder and a visual resolution equivalent to almost 220,000 pixels, DiMAGE 7 is the first consumer digital camera with such a sophisticated optical device. The variable position viewfinder can be tilted up to 90 degrees for added flexibility and creativity in shooting. The Digital Hyper Viewfinder allows the photographer to simultaneously monitor the image and camera settings. DiMAGE 7's 4x electronic magnification can enlarge the central area of the image in the viewfinder during manual focusing - an important feature when image sharpness is critical, especially with close-up photography. The Digital Hyper Viewfinder and the LCD monitor offer a graphic-user interface with a full array of shooting information. The eyepiece sensors detect if the Digital Hyper Viewfinder is being used, and switch the display between the viewfinder and the monitor accordingly. The camera's controls are optimally laid out for ease of use. Frequently used functions are placed in a simple, function-dial system.

A battery hungry monster.
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7Hi by nancyoshea taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Great quality pictures, lots of good features, stylish looking.
Disadvantages A little expensive, drains batteries for fun and a very hard to fathom instruction manual.

...My next door neighbour recently bought a new digital camera for his computer and so he didn't need his old one anymore. His old one was a Minolta Dimage 7Hi camera retailing at nearly £500. When he offered me this camera for £150 I naturally snapped it up. The camera is black and quite chunky to look at and it does look very expensive. It is well built and fairly heavy for a digital camera but what does it work like? Well after taking plenty of photo's in different light variations of most of my family, I found the photo and light quality to be of the highest quality. The built in flash makes short work of any dark shadowy places and the camera takes care of unusually light photo's as well. It has a picture quality of 2560 x 1900 and a 7 x zoom of 200mm. The camera has automatic and manual focus options and the automatic... Read review

Picture Quality
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7i by grc0532 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages good picture quality, lightweight, well balanced
Disadvantages poor quality control dial for price.

...Good quality pictures from every condition. Used on a tripod, it is difficult not to get a good image. The build quality is suspect for the price though. The macro mode is very useful as is the digital zoom and picture quality does not seem to suffer too much from their use.The built in flash is adequate for most situations, although a re-eye reduction system would be helpful. It can be power hungry for batteries and at least one spare set would be advisable, although recharging time with the supplied charger is quite good. The supplied 16mb compact flash card isn`t really practical for good quality work and I would recommend getting a 128mb card. Overall it is a good quality product ith the only negative point being the weak dial but I understand that Minolta are recalling all affected cameras to rectify the problem.... Read review

Dynamic Dimage 7i, the proofs in the pictures.
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7i by neilslaptop taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Feels & responds very much like a quality SLR.
Disadvantages Sluggish Auto Focus and poor standard flash capabilities.

...Having been an ardent SLR fanatic, I found it tremendously difficult to tear myself away from my old Minolta 9000 system which offered me so much versatility and quality. Having bought the Dimage 7i and taken it on holiday I soon became comfortable with it's features. Spot focussing amongst other features enables you to compose your shots with a degree of imagination but remember to purchase a larger capacity Compact Flash card as you will soon run out of storage with the standard issue 16mb card that comes with the camera from new, especially if your snapping in larger format. I have purchased a 128mb and a 256mb Compact Flash card and 'touch wood' have never yet run out of storage space. The software supplied allows for effortless downloading of pictures directly from the camera and a decent picture software package will allow you... Read review
