My son and I have used two-way radios for years to communicate both on the cruises we enjoy, and just when he goes down the street to play. We have gone through several sets of Motorolas, and a very brief stint with a horrid set of Cobras. I had heard good things about the Midland radios from some fellow cruise enthusiasts, and decided to give them a try.
They are by far the best set of radios we have used so far. We took them on our most recent cruise in February, and had great success with them. The sound is crisp and clear, and with all the sub-channels we never had a problem with cross-talk onboard the cruise ship. Even with all the metal on the ship, we had no trouble communicating with each other when we were several decks apart.
The talk time on a battery charge was exceptional -- we would have our radios on from morning 'til night, and never went below two or three bars. Then we would just pop them into the included charger, and they would be set to go again the next morning.
They have a sturdy build, and easy-to-use features. I recommend these radios to anyone!
