When the time came last summer to get ready to go to the beach, i asked my wife to pick me up a portable CD Player, and the Memorex MD6443 is what she chose. It was more than reasonably priced on sale at the time at about $10. I used it both at the beach, as well as poolside last year, and came away more than impressed by the little player.
The MD6443 is just a cd player, so it does not have a built in am/fm radio feature, which might have been cool, but for my needs it was great. The player is capable of playing normal store bought CD's, as well as CD-R and CD-RW as well. This was an important feature for me because i like to make alot of my own compilation CD's, so i tend to carry mostly my own homemade cds.
The unit also has all the Playback modes you might need for something such as this. Included are Program Play, Resume Play, Random Play/Shuffle. You can also use an all tracks repeat option, as well as a one track repeat.
This though is not the best features of this little gem. The MD6443 is capable of 24 track programmable CD Memory which is a great feature if you have your personal favorites and want to stick with them.
The other awesome feature that i have found included is a 60 second anti-shock protection which has come in very handy for me on numerous occasions now as i can be a bit of a klutz sometimes. This shockproof memory feature will help the player to remember where you were on the cd, insteading of resetting you back to the beginning as many systems might.
The rest of the features are pretty standard. Comes with a set of stereo headphones which attach to a jack on the side. It has a standard top loader for the CD's. You do get a Bass boost sound effect within the Audio system which makes your music sound quite good. Finally it does have a DC power input jack so that you can play it and not burn your batteries. You will need two AA batteries and it seemed to play very long on just those two. I have only replaced them 1 in a year.
So if your looking for a nice, functional portable CD player at a reasonable price, the MD6443 would be an excellent choice.
