The only band that shoved me head first into the metal mania is undoubtedly, Megadeth. The band that kept the (then) 13 year old Indian kid who just moved to downtown Brampton, Canada (FYI, the "kid" is me), busy all afternoon, headbanging in ripped jeans, and jumpin' off her bed doing the ... ...On a lil' background info Megadeth is an American heavy (speed/thrash) metal band. Their founder, Dave Mustaine who departed from Metallica, moved on to form Megadeth. After a number of changes in lineup, their current line-up consists of-
Dave Mustaine Chris Broderick (guitar, backing vocals)
James Lomenzo (bass, backing vocals)
Shawn Drover (drums)
Cutting to the chase, here's a brief look into their records so far, and how I feel about each ... ...record that had apparently catapulted Megadeth into the mainstream metal scene and earned them global fame.
1. Wake up Dead
2. The Conjuring
3. Peace Sells
4. Devils Island
5. Good Mourning/Black Friday
6. Bad Omen
7. I Ain't Superstitious
8. My Last Words
So Far, So Good...So What?
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of this album. The band probably flipped out and moved into a totally new field which sounds like loud semi-thrash punk-ish BS.

Advantages: great music, performance, and learn it on guitar! Disadvantages: none
Megadeth are a stunning and brilliant heavy metal band, with some rocking and awesome songs which I just love to listen to.
My favorite is called kill the king. Yeah... treachury and blah blah, but as soon as I first bought their album and heard this song, I learnt it on guitar, and for some reason its so satisfying to play.
I would normally say for a great band; but the albums, and go to performances, but for this band I need to add... LEARN ALL ...

Advantages Great comeback, their best album for 14 years, inspired soloing and riffing. Disadvantages Few blips on the CD.
...A relaxing Sunday, outside in the sun, beer in hand and the latest Megadeth CD to boot with it all. I'd just finished my usual fortnightly visit to JB Hi-Fi, rushing to get home to put this CD in. Even more hurried for the fact that Australia stocked the CD a month after it was released everywhere else in the world, so you could understand my frustration.
Now, I'm a huge fan of Megadeth and have been for a long time. Like many people I thought they were dead when founder and head honcho, Dave Mustaine announced that major tendons in his Arm had been ripped and it was unlikely that he'd ever play again. Fortunately Dave went through surgery and was declared fit to play Guitar again after a two year absence from the scene.
The last line up of Dave Mustaine, Dave Ellefson, Al Pitrelli and Jimmy DeGrasso was not to play together...

Advantages Good solos, Mustaine's voice is as strong as ever. Disadvantages Too many simple songs, overly political and religious lyrical content.
...After several awards and some famous groundbreaking albums megadeths 11th studio album united abominations is released. After the impressive the system has failed, with technical riffs, and solos it would be hard to beat it in terms of quality and originality.
Stand Out Tracks for good and bad reasons:
Sleepwalker - a song where the vocals are the strong point, the riffs are simple but the lyrics are interesting, and its quite clear Mustaine's lyrical skills have improved as he has progressed with Megadeth. The song sleepwalker is a good opener and at almost 5 and half minutes it keeps the listener engaged with vocal layering, a catchy main riff with a memorable solo.
Washington is next - This is personally my favourite track off the megadeth album, where I feel Mustaine is most focused, the opening riff gets your attention...

Advantages Great piece of musicianship Disadvantages what?
...BACKGROUND
*******************
As Most of you probably know by now, I am a metalhead. I just love aggressive music, but most of all, bands showing great musicianship (as a guitarist myself). I bought countdown to extinction a long long time ago during a trip to Paris in the Virgin Megastore of the "Champ Elysees". I had the tape in my walkman long before then, so I can definitely say that this album followed me for many many years. I didn't know any other album of Megadeth until recently, when I decided to get them one by one.
MEGADETH, WHO THE HELL ARE THEY???
****************************************************
Megadeth is Dave Mustaine's baby. For those who don't know Dave Mustaine, he is one of the former guitarists of Metallica, but after being kicked out of the band because of his various addictions (booze, and various...

...Anthrax is an american thrash/heavy metal band from New York that is one of the main four of that genre to have not folded. The other three being Metallica, megadeth and slayer. In case anyone does not know the name anthrax is a cow diease. The band was started by Scott Ian and Danny Lilker. Suffice to say there were way to many line ups to list them. The one that was in effect when the were popular during the heyday of heavy metal during the late 80's and early 90's. That line up included Scott Ian and Danny Spitz on guitar, Charlie Benante on drums, Frank Bello on bass guitar and Joey Belladonna on lead vocals. The band and Belladonna parted ways in 1992 and John Bush took over vocals until 2004. The band then had a more grunge sound very different than their older more classic sound.
The band did reunite for some shows...
