Mario Kart for Nintendo 64
Review of Mario Kart 64 for Nintendo 64 by zelda5300

Advantages: Fun game, classic character, exciting tracks, multiplayer
Disadvantages: game is older so some graphics are compromised

The original Mario Kart game is a time loved classic and a great game for people of every age. The game features some of the classic characters of Nintendo, including Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Toad and of course, Princess Peach. In the game, the player is allowed to take the reigns of one of I beleive 8 characters, and race them against the computer or other players on one of 16 diverse and unique tracks. The real trademark of the game however, are the ...
..."arenas." In this section of the game, players are given three balloons and these can be "popped" by getting hit with an item. The last remaining person with a balloon is thus the winner. Mario Kart for Nintendo 64 is definately one of the great classic games of this platform. ... Read review

Mario Kart 64 Rocks!
Review of Mario Kart 64 for Nintendo 64 by lyrickat21

Advantages: highly addictive, entertaining, several different play modes, fun characters
Disadvantages: none

Super Mario Kart 64 is one of the classic games that has been played by millions all around the world. This game is used on the Nintendo 64 game console that I personally love. I am not a big gamer myself these days, but when I was younger I used to play video games ALL the time. I think that as the gaming systems got more advanced, they just became too confusing. I mean, what happened to the classic controllers that had like 3 to 5 button options ...
...have like 10 different buttons and countless different combination that give you countless results when pressed. How is anyone supposed to remember all that. So obviously I love the Nintendo 64 for its simplicity. It is simple, but it is still extremely entertaining. There are 4 different game modes including the Grand Prix, which consists of 3 different races and whoever does the best out of 3 wins. The time trial mode which clocks your best and ... Read review

MArio KArt 64
Review of Mario Kart 64 for Nintendo 64 by skulldragon3200

Advantages: Everything, the game is amazing
Disadvantages: Nothing

The remake of the popular Super Nintendo version, where everything has been converted from 2D to 3D and the game looks fantastic. The game has all of your favorite characters and tracks from the original, except this time, Nintendo has gone all out and but a lot more into the game. More tracks, tons more characters, and a few new items to liven up the racing. The game functions just as the other games, such as the you choose a character, pick a ... Read review

Mario Kart 64 - The Review
Review of Mario Kart 64 for Nintendo 64 by Purtle

Advantages: Fun, Challenging, lots of courses, battle mode
Disadvantages: Might be too challenging for some people, not a lot of characters

One of the first Mario kart games in the series, Mario Kart 64 was and is one of my favorite games for the N64 along with a list of others. The game has a multitude of levels to race on. The one player or 'campaign' sort of mode, can actually be played by 2 players as well. I have done this many times with my brother and friends. Racing against computers is always interesting and challenging, but battling it out against friends and family is always ...
...good selection of characters considering the time it was made. The graphics are okay for their time but not the greatest. There is also the time-trial mode and battle mode. Battle mod can only be done with friends and family, but is always a blast and even quite comical. There are a few glitches and things in the game which can be abused. However, these glitches are usually not the easiest thing to pull off so one does not usually have to worry ... Read review

Mario Kart Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Review of Mario Kart Wii (Wii) by Adders.P taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Fun, great replay value.
Disadvantages No Paratroopa.

...What is Mario Kart? Mario Kart is a racing game using characters from the Super Mario Bros series. Unlike most other racing games, Mario Kart uses items to make the racing more interesting. The Predecessors Mario Kart started life on the SNES console in 1992 with Super Mario Kart. The game had 20 tracks over 4 cups, each with 5 tracks. Players have to unlock the "Special Cup" by beating the Mushroom Cup, Star Cup and Flower Cup in 100CC Grand Prix mode. The second Mario Kart game to be released was Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64. It was released in 1996, and was made available on the Wii's Virtual Console in 2007. This game had only 16 tracks, all of which were available from the start. As with Super Mario Kart, the cups were called Mushroom Cup, Star Cup, Flower Cup and Special Cup. The third Mario Kart game... Read review

MARIO KART 64
Review of Mario Kart (N64) by Jester247 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages GREAT FUN
Disadvantages LOSES ITS MAGIC AFTER A WHILE

...Mario Kart 64 isn’t the most impressive game I have ever played, but it certainly deserves the title ‘classic’, as so many people have rightly said. The original game on the SNES was a revelation, with great graphics – almost true 3D in a way, and yet the game was so much fun to play and a hundred and one imitations of Mario Kart have been released – none of which, not even Mario Kart 64, have been as good as the SNES Nintendo masterpiece. However, the N64’s version is a very entertaining game, one of the most sought after Nintendo games at the auction sites at the moment! The game play was always the major success in Nintendo home titles, and Mario Kart delivers the most superb playability! The handling of each character’s ‘car’ is superb, and all have various different qualities... Read review

Review of Mario Kart (N64) by Kevin_Pritchard taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Excellent multiplayer game, better items than before
Disadvantages Less track and character choices, skill differential is rather steep

...One of the most surprising games to ever appear on the Super Nintendo was Super Mario Kart. At first, it seemed, well, goofy - there were always plenty of racing games to go. But this game had something that some of the others didn't: style. Not a hard-edged, sophisticated, I'm-too-cool sort of style, but a flippant, yet serious about game play style. It was a runaway smash with everyone I know. Thus, nobody I knew was surprised when Nintendo made Mario Kart 64 one of the initial titles for the N64. Considering how much I enjoyed the first, I had to go for a ride. First things first - how does it handle? Perhaps the greatest problem any racing game could have is poor handling. However, the carts roll along rather nicely. Of course, going into a turn at high speeds is going to be difficult, but that just makes sense. Other common... Read review

Additional information

Detailed Description: Though the single-player mode is a bit of a step back from the SNES original, Mario Kart 64 still offers one of the best multiplayer experiences to be had on Nintendo 64. Like its predecessor, the title is once again a kart race featuring classic Nintendo mascots. This time around players can race as everybody from Mario himself to Luigi, Bowser, the Princess, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Wario. Mario Kart 64 features a good selection of straightforward single-player levels that allow players to sabotage computer controlled opponents on the roadside with various power-up bonuses. But the main attraction is the addictive multiplayer mode in which up to four players can battle against each other through several arena-style environments.
